Market Street Stamps Week- Day 2

Today's project was created by Scor-pal designer Katie Tate.

Products Needed:

Cardstock and Designer Paper

Chipboard Coasters

Scor-Pal

Scor-Tape

Market Street Stamps Sip On

Market Street Stamps Tiki Time

Fringe Scissors

Dark Brown ink
Black ink for stamping images
Coloring medium for stamped images

Cut cardstock to 8 ¼” by 6 ½”.

Score at 2” and 6 ¼” along the 8 ¼” side.

Turn a ¼ turn and score at 3” and 4 ½” along the 6 ½” side.

Burnish all score lines and cut as indicated in the photo.

Create the box from the scored cardstock using Scor-Tape for strength.

Cover purchased coasters with your choice of paper. I always pick up items like this from the clearance bins at craft stores.

Using the Tiki Hut and 2 sentiment stamps from the set add decoration to your coasters. I would recommend sealing them with a product like Mod Podge before using.

Cut two strips of cardstock 12” by 1 ½”. Create a pleated strip by scoring at ½” and then at ¾” and repeat at ½” followed by ¼” alternating increments.

Burnish firmly to create the pleat.

Use Scor-Tape to hold the pleats in place. Using Fringing scissors snip along the bottom end.

Attached the strip to a prescored roof made from cardstock measuring 8” by 4 ¼” scored at 2” and 3” along the 8” length. Ink the edges of the fringe.
Add the second strip overlapping with edge at the 2” score.

Attached the roof to the back of the box and decorate the box to resemble a Tiki Hut with strips of coordinating paper. I added a sentiment from the Tiki Time set.

The coasters fit in easily and the fringed roof lifts to allow easy access to them.

I completed the set with coordinating invitations decorated with the Sip On stamp and images from the Tiki Time set.

Inside is a computer generated invitation decorated with two sentiments from the Tiki Time set.

The complete set ready for your next Girls Night In!

Today's featured projects come from Scor-pal designers Diane Zechman and Virginia Nebel.

First up we have two ideas from Diane.

I created 2 projects for our hop with Market Street stamps today. First I made a Gate Fold card using the Believing Butterfly stamp set and my Scor-Pal.

Stamps: Market Street Believing Butterfly; paper- white cardstock; ink- SU! Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party, Memento Rich Cocoa; accessories- Scor-Pal, Cuttlebug Textile folder, Cinnamon Stickles.

This butterfly is so pretty and I decided to stamp it in different colors and attach them to a white-on-white card to really make them pop! The light purple and coral butterflies are only attached to the panel on the right.

I stamped the sentiment in the same colors and cut out select words to glue on top of the sentiment stamped in brown ink.

For my second project, I used the Comfort Food stamp set to create a 6x6 recipe page.

Stamps- Market Street Comfort Food; paper- white, SU! Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Everyday Enchantment paper; ink- SU! Pool Party, Memento Tuxedo Black; accessories- Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape, Copics, 2 ½” and 2 3/8” circle punches, Aleene’s True Snow, Cinnamon Stickles, Sizzix Fashionable Hearts Embosslits.

The patterned paper strip across the bottom was pleated using the Scor-Pal. For the pleated strip, I scored a 12” piece of paper at 3/4", 1”, 1 3/4", 2”, 2 3/4", 3”, etc. Then I accordion folded it and attached it with Scor-Tape.

The scalloped layer underneath the pie image was embossed by scoring in opposite directions in a criss-cross pattern.

 

The pie was colored with markers and I applied Aleene’s True Snow to the whipped topping to create additional dimension. The words “Favorite” and “Recipe” were placed on an acrylic block in a curve so they would match the round layers when stamped.

Next, another great project using the same stamps from Virginia:

Hi. It’s Virginia here and I am so happy to be playing along this week’s Scor-pal cross promotion with Market Street Stamps. When I saw the Market Street’s Comfort Food (#MSS-31) stamp set  I immediately thought about baked treats and creating a triple-pocket card. This pocket card could accompany home-baked goodies and sharing the recipe at the same time!

Supplies: American Crafts pattern paper, Lifestyles diecuts, Marvy Uchida punch, Copic markers, Twinery twine

Start with an 8 ½ x 11 double sided pattern paper. I would suggest using paper with a random pattern to avoid ‘upside down’ pocket folds.

 Score the paper in half vertically and horizontally. With the 8 ½ edge along the top fence of the Scor-pal, lightly score at the 1 ¾ inches (stop at around the 1 ¾ inch mark which you can use the vertical ruler on the Scor-pal. Repeat a second light score-line at the 5 ½ mark (stop at around the 5 ½ mark on the vertical ruler). These light score lines are used as registration guides for your folding so you do not need to score too heavily.



To make the pocket folds. Mountain fold the top left corner to the 1 ¾ registration line, valley fold the top right corner to the 5 ½ registration line, valley fold the bottom left corner to the 4 ¼ center score line. Cut along the 5 ½ score line from the edge and stop at the center (see the cut line in photo)



Folding sequence: Fold the top portion left, bring up the bottom portion and then fold the last remaining flap around to the back. Secure at the left edge with Scor-tape.

Due to the thickness of your paper, you may need to trim along the top to even out the edge.

Please welcome our featured guest Tifany DeGough. Tiffany is no stranger to Scor-pal products. You have likely seen her work during our blog hops with both Authentique Paper and The Twinery. Tifany is also a designer for Market Street Stamps, which we will be spotlighting for a full weeks starting on April 16th.

This is Tifany from Ink Blots by TRD and I am so thrilled to be featured as the guest designer here today! Before I get to my project, please allow me to introduce myself.

I am first of all a Christian, and after that a crafter. I enjoy sharing my creative projects on my blog: Ink Blots by TRD. 

I have a wonderful husband and I am blessed to be able to stay home with our three precious children. 

I have been paper-crafting for as long as I can remember...I started out just drawing and making cards in my younger years, but that has developed into a love of many crafty mediums. My go-to medium is paper, but I also dabble in painting and other crafty pursuits. As far as paper crafting goes I mainly create cards...but also love to do mini albums, altered art, and home decor projects. 

I have had more than 20 projects published in various print publications (magazine issues and idea books) in the past year and I was also recently announced as one of the winners in Paper Crafts magazine's World Card Making Day 2011 contest!

I am currently a Senior Designer for Market Street Stamps and a Second Term Design Team Member for The Twinery. 

Now...on to my project:

Tools: Fiskars (Trimmer, Scissors, Round N Round Squeeze Punch); Tim Holtz (Tiny Attacher); 

Using the Scor-Pal I created this mini album using what is often referred to as the meander or maze method. This type of album is a great option because it can be created from just ONE sheet of 12x12 paper.

The finished album comes out to a 3x3 size and was perfect for some pictures of my husband and I on a recent trip to Tahoe. 

The way the meander album is assembled allows for each page to be turned into either a top-loading pocket or side-loading pocket. This is a great place to store mementos from a vacation or to tuck in tags with journaling about your special event. 

To get started with your meander album take one sheet of 12x12 paper (single-sided or double-sided will work) and place it in your Scor-Pal. 

Score at 3", 6", and 9", rotate your paper 90 degrees, and score again at 3", 6", and 9".

Once your sheet is scored your paper will be sectioned into a 4x4 grid (as shown in the diagram above).

To finish prepping your paper, cut along the score lines as indicated by the red lines on the diagram above.

Starting at the first square in the grid (shown in the diagram above in the upper left corner), fold on each score line accordion style, continuing around the corner pieces and all the way through until you have come to the last square in the grid (shown in the diagram above in the bottom right corner).

From here use Scor-Tape to adhere the edges of the front and back pieces of each of the pages together, leaving one edge opening for a pocket on each page (if desired). {I prefer to use the 1/8" Scor-Tape for this step as it gives a strong hold but allows for a bit more room inside each pocket.}

{Tip: Make sure each of your pages has one of the four edges in common as the spine edge - the front and back pieces of each of the pages along this edge will always be adhered with Scor-Tape to create a strong spine.}

For each of my covers I trimmed two 3x3 pieces of covered chipboard and sandwiched the twill tying tape between the pieces (which were adhered with 1/4" Scor-Tape) so that I would have a way to tie the album closed without it showing on either side of the cover.

I created a spine cover from a strip of patterned paper and scored it every 1/8" on the section that would be flexing when the album is opened and closed.

Scor-pal & American Crafts Blog Hop!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! 

It's another fun-filled day here on the Scor-pal blog. We've teamed up with American Crafts for an exciting hop that will show you a variety of scrapbook pages, cards, and other creative projects created with a Scor-pal scoring board and American Crafts products.

For a sweet taste of things to come, Scor-pal Designer Gini Cagle has created this special project for today:

When I saw all of the adorable accessories that went with the Garden Cafe line, I knew that these little paper strawberries would be a fun way to welcome spring!

   

The strawberry template came from the Whiff of Joy blog. I just used the template, and scored all of the folds with my Scor-pal. I used a Crop-o-dile to punch the holes at the top of each "petal" and then Scor-tape held the tab firmly in place. The Twinery's Baker's twine was used to lace the top together. The strawberry top was made using a Punch Bunch Cherry Blossom punch instead of the template provided.. The strings were drawn together and pulled through the leafy top, and tied in a bow.

The box that holds the strawberries was made using the Christmas Treats Basket Tutorial from Scor-pal. It is such a quick but cute basket to put together, and was a great canvas to add some of the American Craft dimensional stickers.
