Meet the Scor-pal Team-Stephanie Ackerman

My name is Stephanie Ackerman and I'm a scrap-a-holic. I love anything paper related. I have been creating in some form since I was a child and I've watched how this craft has evolved and how it has evolved us. Telling the story of our lives is important, but just as important is the presentation of the projects we create. To me, this is a labor of love and I certainly do enjoy creating - and the more layers I better! I find my day is just not complete if I haven't spent some time in craft room. While I love to create layouts and altered items, I adore creating cards and my Scor-Pal is always by my side. I also love my Cricut Expressions and they can be found happily chirping along with me while I create. I am passionate about this craft and all paper craft avenues from card making to stamping to altering anything I can get my hands on.

I have been married to Gary for 30 years and we have a 16 year old son about whom I love to scrap. But, being the typical teenage boy, it is very hard to get pictures of him, so I take them when I can. Since he is a sports jock, I can generally get those pictures without any problem at all. Now, if only, I could get a decent picture of him these days!!!!

I have also discovered that I love to teach paper crafting classes, whether it be in my home studio or at my local stores. I love showing others the joy of this wonderful craft and I encourage everyone to try new techniques and products as they appear on the shelves of the stores.

I am thrilled to be a part of the Scor-Pal design team.

Meet the Scor-pal Team-Katie Tate

Today we meet Scor-pal designer Katie Tate

A little about me: I’m English by birth but have lived in the US for the last 14 years. We currently live in North Texas but have also lived in Arizona and Missouri.

Been married for almost 17 years (August) and have 3 children, Nathan (13), Georgia (12) and Carter (4).

I’ve been scrapbooking for 13 years and card making for 2. But I’ve always been a paper crafter since I was old enough to hold a felt tip and a pair of scissors!

I’m lucky enough to have a big studio at home that in the daylight hours I tend to live in and I get flustered if I go a day without crafting.

I am Copic certified and most of my projects include coloring. I teach classes using the Scor-Pal at a local store and I’ve attached the last one I did as it is one of my favorites.

 

Meet the Scor-pal Team-Diane Zechman

My name is Diane Zechman and I am thankful to have the opportunity to share my paper-crafting projects with you. I am married to a great husband and I’m a mother to two wonderful daughters. We live in North-Eastern PA in the USA and have one spoiled little dog. I’m also known as "Cookiestamper" on the internet because I love cookies and occasionally I enjoy creating designs on them with cookie stamps.

I have been actively rubber stamping and paper-crafting since the year 2000 and was quickly “hooked” on this hobby! Along the way I have been fortunate to be a part of a few design teams which helped me to grow and step “outside my box”. Over the past several years I have enjoyed working with many different styles, creating cards and various 3-D items. The Scor-Pal tool is one of my “essential” items to create with. It will never gather dust as it is used on almost every card and project I make.

I have been drawn to paper-crafting because being able to make something nice with my own hands and see a finished product in a short amount of time is very satisfying. The Scor-Pal allows me to easily and effortlessly realize those accomplishments. I hope you have as much fun with the Scor-Pal as I do!

Meet the Scor-pal Team-Penny Wessenauer

Today, we are pleased to introduce our resident template designer and ever supportive cheerleader, Penny Wessenauer.

I'm Penny Wessenauer, and I'm a confirmed paper crafter.. I turned 61 in 2010 and will have been married to my husband Don for over 42 years in 2012. We live in the central highlands of Arizona, USA, which is at about a mile high elevation so we enjoy changing seasons year round. We absolutely love this area. There are so many fun places to explore in the area, and we do so on a regular basis.

We've lived in many areas of the United States throughout our marriage though. Before Arizona, we lived 20 years in the greater Los Angeles area, where our married children and their spouses, and our only grandchild still live. Because of this, we make frequent 7 hour trips back and forth.. and because Don was originally from Ohio, where the majority of his close family still live, we also make yearly trips to the east coast as well. Prior to our stay in LA, we lived 11 years in Pennsylvania, 3 years in Hawaii, a year and a half out on the Aleutian Islands (that long string of islands angling out into the Pacific from Alaska), and half a year in Pensacola, Florida. We have done lots of moving around in our lives, but have had a lot of fun too.

When we lived in Pennsylvania, when our children were small, I went back to school to complete my bachelors degrees in Interior Design. My Interior Design program was very architecturally oriented, with the learning of drafting skills of utmost importance. I was exposed to many art classes then as well, with color, texture, balance, proportion, and all the rest of that thrown in for good measure!

We moved to Los Angeles in 1985, and I found work as an architectural draftsperson in a small residential and commercial architectural office.. and later went to work for a large shopping mall--design, build, and management company. I retired from that firm around 1995, taking an early retirement.. Rubber stamping, follow closely by teabag folding, and card making soon became addictive hobbies. Digital decoupage design work for cards, and template design were more recent additions to my creative endeavors. I invite everyone to explore my work, and to use my 3d decoupage sheets and teabag folds and tiles as they will.

Meet the Scor-pal Team-Gini Cagle

Hello Scor-pal fans! I mentioned last week that we are going to be introducing the Scor-pal team over the next several days. Today, please meet Scor-pal Designer Gini Cagle.

I have been crafting all of my life, in one form or another. I was a very successful bead artist (you can see my work on my blog -http://ginicagle.blogspot.com/2009/11/my-beadwork.html ). I had my work published in over a dozen books and magazines, and lectured and taught all over the country, but...my beaded pieces took 500-1000 hours to complete. About 10 years ago, I started scrapbooking, when my first nephew was born. I instantly fell in love with the immediacy of the medium (compared to the crazy hours I spent beading!) In the past year or two, I have really gotten serious with the craft and love finding new ways to take my pieces to the next level. It's really funny to look at any of my work, from beadwork to paper and to be able to see the same style emerge, regardless of the medium. I have always loved dimension, and color and layers.

Paper crafting is really a family thing for me. My sister and l used to get together once a week to craft , but now she has moved right next door - so it's one big crafting party. And of course, my five year old nephew wants in on the action as well! My husband doesn't ever craft with me, but he is my biggest cheerleader, and is always supportive of what I do. We have been married for two years. We have a fairytale romance - we knew each other in high school and were friends, but went over 20 years without any contact, and reconnected on Facebook and quickly knew we were meant to be together. I work as a dental hygienist, so creating with paper is always a welcomed release!

Meet the Scor-pal Team-Tami Mayberry

Hi All!! Everyone at Scor-pal has been super busy lately working on special projects and fun things to share since starting the blog a couple months ago. 

So much to share! To start off I want to introduce you to the designers who you will be seeing around Scor-pal. I've asked each designer to share a little about themselves along with a favorite project and a photo so you can put faces with the names you'll be seeing.

Today, I'll start with myself. My name is Tami Mayberry.

That's me. Ok, honestly, that's me in 2007. Needless to say, I not a fan of having my picture taken! ;)  I am the Team Leader here at Scor-pal and one of the faces you'll be "seeing" here on the blog and on the Scor-pal Fan Page at Facebook. I am a wife and stay at home (homeschooling) mom of 5. In my “free time” I enjoy spend time with my friends and family, church activities, graphic design and, of course, creating with paper.  I am an admitted social media addict. I love Facebook and have recently started on Twitter. I love the paper craft industry, making new friends and keeping up with (aka shopping for!) all the great products out there. I have been scrapbooking since 1997 and card making and stamping since 2007. In addition to working for Scor-pal, I am a designer for DRG Publishers/CardMaker magazine and designer/illustrator for Gina K Designs. I won't bore you with the rest. If you'd like to know more I'd love to have you stop by my blog to say hello! ;)

Now, for the project part of the intro. I have owned a Scor-pal since 2008 when Diana was a sponsor at the CPS card sketch blog. Admittedly, at the time I didn't realize the *amazing* potential of the Scor-pal. Even with a small concept of how it could be used I fell in love with it with the first score! At the time I was using another scoring tool and it was rather frustrating. The Scor-pal was a dream come true just in the fact that I could score a card and not have it end up crooked or a big cut in the paper. I could also score 2 lines and have them perfectly parallel. I've used it ever since and always have it within reach. Well, the Scor-pal itself is always within reach. The Scor-tool seems to like to hide among the mess I make when creating so I have 3 or 4 of those! As I said, the Scor-pal has amazing potential as to what can be created with a simple piece of paper. But, it is also awesome in what you can do *to* a simple piece of paper and a simple design. I am a very clean and simple designer. With the Scor-pal I can add just the right touch to any creation. I love adding a simple accent to my cards by adding a few scored lines. Here are just a few examples where I have used my Scor-pal not only as a tool but essentially as an "accent/embellishment".
