Deadline for entering is 8am Central, Monday, January 28, 2013.

Our first project this week comes from Scor-pal Designer Lori Williams:

This is such a simple card tutorial that will make your cards look like a show stopper. I love the dimension that is achieved with this design. Let’s look at how to create this beautiful Cascading Card.

Step One: Cut card stock 8 x 10 ½”. Laying the card stock long ways, mark a dot at the 2 ½ “ down from the top and rotate paper to do on the opposite side. This will create a slanting line.

Step Two: Line your marked dots up and cut to form as shown in the picture.

Step Three: Score at 1 ¾ “ , 3 ½”, 5 ¼”, 7”, and 8 ¾”. Do this on both sections of paper. Once you have all the lines scored crease in alternating mountains and valley folds and crease with your Scor-Pal Tool.

Step Four: Measure down your first score line ( 1 ¾) to 2 ½ “ and on your last score line ( 8 ¾”) measure down 1 ½”. This will be half way between on both sides. Cut down from the top to the measured place creating a slit. You will do this on both pieces however on the second piece instead of cutting from the top down, cut from the bottom up.

Step Five: Slide your two pieces together using the slots created. I glued my flaps together using Scor Pal Tape and so the front and back would layout flat. Decorate as desired

Next up, Scor-pal designer Virginia Nebel:

My inspiration for today’s project is the 3 x 4 format. I created a super easy score and fold template to make a cute little 3 x 4 journal booklet (with pockets) , plenty of room for photos and journaling. For those who are creating their Project Life books, this little journal booklet would be perfect to tuck into the 3 x 4 pocket for some fun inter-active detail. If you are looking at ways to present gift cards, this would make a fabulous holder too.

I love Simple Stories Sn@p Life collections as this paper line was perfect for my project!

Supplies:
Simple Storeis Snap Life,
We R Memory Keepers cinch and o-wires

Here are the steps to make a journal booklet, in my project example I made 2 booklets bound together with o-wires.

Step 1: Take a 10 x 8 sheet of cardstock and score at 1, 4, and 7 inches. Rotate 90 degrees left and score at 4 inches. Cut along the vertical centre scored line from the bottom until you reach the intersection of the scored lines 3 inches from the top. Trim and discard the bottom right hand piece measuring 4 x 1 inches.

Step 2: To fold your booklet (using the ‘meandering book’ folding technique), start from the left side: skip the 1 inch scored line from the bottom and make your first mountain fold on the 2nd score line, then valley fold, mountain fold as you go to right side, valley fold and then a final mountain fold. (Each time you fold you should be keeping all the previous folded sections together along the way) Once you have the panels folded, wrap the 1 inch width panel around the pages and secure the last opposite flap to close the booklet for a seamless bind. For pages 1 and 3 seal the bottom edges and on page 2 seal the side edges to create the pockets. If you wish to pre apply tape and seal as you fold the booklet, I have shown where you need thin double-sided tape in the last photo below.

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to make time for some journaling because when we look back the words we write will be just as important as our photos!
