Other items to embellish
Place your 12" side of your card base against the top fence of your Scor-Pal. Score at 2", 4", 8" and 10".
Insert your Scor-Mat into your Scor-Pal. Align your 5 1/2" side of your card base with the top fence. Line your ruler up with the 1 1/2" mark on the top fence and use your craft knife to cut a slit between the 2" and 10" score lines.
Next, line your ruler up with the 4" mark on the top fence and use your craft knife to cut a second slit in your card base between the 2" and 10" score lines.
At the 2" score line, create a mountain fold for the top and bottom 1 1/2" sections.
At the 4" score line, create a mountain fold in the center section and a valley fold for the top and bottom 1 1/2" sections.
At the 8" score line, create a valley fold in the center section and a mountain fold for the top and bottom 1 1/2" sections.
At the 10" score line, create a valley folds for the top and bottom 1 1/2" sections.
Here is a view from the top of how your mountain and valley folds will look.
For my first image panel, I used the Hampton Art set called Home Tweet Home. (This amazing stamp set has 21 stamps in it!!) I stamped the bird cage and the chain images in Colorbox Archival Dye Ink in Wicked Black which I had stamped off once to get a nice gray color. Then I stamped one of the bird images (there are six different birds in this set) in Colorbox Archival Dye Ink in Mudslide. I used my water brush to water color the bird with Colorbox Archival Dye Ink in Mermaid.
For my second image panel, I used the tree branch with leaves. I stamped it in opposite directions with the Mudslide ink. Again, I used my water brush to water color the leaves on the branches with Colorbox Archival Dye Ink in Putty. Finally, I stamped this sentiment in Wicked Black ink.
For my final image panel, I stamped a different tree branch in Mudslide ink and water colored the leaves with Putty ink. Then I stamped a different bird image on the branch in Mudslide ink and water colored it with Mermaid ink. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment up above in Wicked Black ink.
A final bit of embellishing with stamped chains, fussy cut tree branches and a loopy die cut finishes the card.
Next Up, Scor-pal Designer Tya Smith
Hello everyone -
I so thrilled to be able to share with you my projects using the Scor-Pal Tool and the beautiful stamps from Hampton Art! I have to admit, I don't do a ton of stamping - but I was so happy that they carried stamps from one of my favorite companies - Doodlebug Designs! It was so fun to work with these stamps - and so easy! They are cling stamps and they stuck right to my acrylic mounting blocks like glue! And the inks that they carry are the EXACT shade of my papers and embellishments from Doodlebug! I loved that!
Here are the 2 projects that I decided to make this time around. If your holidays are anything like mine, my crafting time is super limited so I wanted to show you a couple of "quick and easy" projects you can whip up in a matter of just a few minutes. These would be great to give to friends, teachers or even as neighbor gifts! So here we go!
Supplies used in both projects
Doodlebug Design North Pole collection papers and embellishments
First up we have this fun tall and skinny box with some candy cane sticks added in for a treat.
Supplies:
9 x 6 3/4 red cardstock
1 1/2x 9 green dot Doodlebug pattern paper for border around top of box
(2) 2 3/4 x 3 3/4 plaid Doodlebug pattern paper for front and back of box
(2) 3/4 x 3 3/4 plaid Doodlebug pattern paper for the 2 sides
Scallop edge punch
White paper shred
Candy Canes
18 inches of red grosgrain ribbon
Embellishments are from Doodlebug Designs North Pole collection
Stamps and inks are used on Candy Cane Decorations.
On the 9 inch side of the cardstock, score at 1, 4, 5 and 8 inches
On 6 3/4 inch side of cardstock, score at 1 and 5 3/4 inches
Trim the bottom and top small sections off the left side of the box. Snip the center score lines up to the horizontal score lines on top and bottom as shown below:
Glue sides and bottom of box together as shown.
I like to keep the top flaps of this box rather than trim them off. I just glued them to the outside of the box. If you were not putting anything in the box, this is where these flaps would come in handy in case you wanted the box to close all the way up.
Take 1 1/2 x 9 inch pattern paper and punch out scallop shape border along the bottom edge using a border punch.
Add this punch to the top of the box. Add the plaid pattern paper to the back and front of the box as well as the two sides.
Stamp the shapes with the cling stamps and add embellishments. Glue these to the candy canes.
Add paper shred to inside of box. Add red ribbon to the top of the box and tie a bow. Place candy canes in the bag! Enjoy!
The next project I have for you is what I am calling a "Tag-a -Long" card. It is a fun little card/box with a spot for you to give your recipient 3 cute coordinating tags. It is quick and easy to whip up and a fun way to give a little something extra along with your card!
Supplies:
8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch cardstock for base of card
3x 5 1/2 inch cardstock for box inside of card
3 3/4 x 5 1/4 inch snowflake pattern paper for card front
2x4 inch green stripe pattern paper for card front
1 1/4x 3 1/4 inch snowflake pattern paper for box front on inside of card
3 3/4 x 5 1/4 inch green stripe pattern paper for inside of card
Stamps and Ink from Hampton Art
Embellishments from Doodlebug North Pole collection
3 ribbons for tag tops
18 inches of green and white ribbon to tie around the box and keep it closed
On 8 1/2 inch side score paper at 4 and 4 1/2 inches. This is the card base
For the box inside the card, take the 3 x 5 1/2 inch cardstock and score this paper at 1/2 inch and 1 inch on the 2 short sides and on 1 of the long sides as shown.
Snip the bottom edges off this box as shown
Fold up box edges and glue to the inside of the card as shown:
Decorate the tags as shown. The tags all measure 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches. Add tags to the inside of box.
Green ribbon attaches to the box by feeding under the front panel and around the back of the card. The ribbon ties to the side of the box.

What a fun blog hop this has been. Loved today's projects. I first heard of Scor Pal thru my LSS for card making, etc. However, I learned more when I looked you up on line and found your wonderful projects pages. Then I got to play and really use it for more than folding papers & cards.
I made the top card before and it always turns out really nice!
The first time I saw the Scor-pal was at the Ontario CA Scrapbook Expo! My friend bought the Scor-Buddy and I remember telling myself I really wanted one too. So this year it is on my Must Have List.
Love the fancy fold on the card. Great gift ideas too.
I first learned of Scor-pal on splitcoaststampers.
Both projects are darling. I really liked the first set of stamps, need to get my hands on it, those tweety birds are so cute! I can't remember when I heard about Scor-pal but it was in a CK magazine issue where they talked about tools. I was just floored when I saw what you could make with it!
Toni and Tya's projects are awesome. Can see how wonderful the Scor-Pal is for scoring just perfectly every. single. time.
My friend who introduced me to cardmaking mentioned the name Scor-Pal, and I had no idea what it was. Didn't take me long to learn though with the Web. Then she shared her PaperCrafts magazine with me, and I saw it advertised there. Now it's everywhere and can see why!
All week there have been amazing projects.
So fun to see your fun projects! Love them both!
WOW...love these projects. can't wait to try them.
