Scor-pal & Die Cuts with a View Week - Day 4

Today we continue a week long feature with our friends at Die Cuts with a View , also known as DCWV. Our designers have out done themselves once again to bring you some fun and exciting projects using not only Scor-pal products, but also, a mix of fun products from DCWV. Of course, that's not all. The DCWV team is playing with Scor-pal products this week on the DCWV Blog too!

As always, there a prizes to be won!!
Be sure to visit both the Scor-pal blog and DCWV blog each day this week to see more project ideas and to enter for chances to win some great prizes. To be entered into the random drawing for a Scor-buddy prize simply leave a comment here on the Scor-pal blog each day for a chance to win.

There will be other ways to earn extra chances to win as well, so be watching for those announcements each day.

Today's bonus entry comes by showing us one of your favorite Scor-pal projects. It can be something you've created and posted online, it can be a project from the Scor-pal Project Board on Pinterest, it can be from the Scor-pal Gallery at Splitcoast Stampers, a project from the project listing on Scor-pal website or anywhere else! Simply leave a comment with the link here on this post telling us what you can't wait to make.

Deadline for entering is 8am Central, Monday, October 29.

Our first project of the day comes from Scor-pal Designer Lisa Silver.

Supplies:
Ink: Gathered Twigs Distress ink by Ranger
Paper: Straw 110# by DiscountCardstock.com
Other: Natural Jute Twine by Really Reasonable Ribbon, Crop-o-dile by We R Memory Keepers, Precision scissors by EK Success, Leaf die by Sizzix and Scor-Tape

To create the bag, I started a sturdy kraft cardstock.  Score at the following marks, using your Scor-pal scoring board:

The small corner in the template above that is shaded should be removed with precision scissors.  Cut along the 1.5" scores to create the bottom of the bag.  Fold along the scored lines.  I also used Scor-Tape to ensure my bag stays together.  Add Scor-Tape to the small fold (1") edge and adhere to the opposite side to close the bag.  I just can't say enough about Scor-Tape... there's just nothing better!  Your project will not fall apart.

Using a the lovely textured cardstock from the Autumn Melody cardstock stack, I die cut leaves into the brown cardstock.  I also used a pretty patterned paper from the Autumn Melody Stack behind the die cut cardstock to give the leaves some dimension and interest.

The die cut panel was adhered to the bag with dimensional tap, after I tied on a simple bow of twine.

I added a braided handle of twine to the bag, through two holes punched into the sides approximately 0.5" from the edge.

To complement the bag, I created a gate fold card to match.  To be honest, it's so simple to create a gate fold card using a Scor-pal because the scoring marks are noted on the board.  Start with a 8.5" x 11" piece of kraft card stock.  Score at 2.25" and 7.75".  I used the same beautiful Autumn Melody Stack papers - and trimmed one of the images to use as my focal point of the card.  I inked the edges a bit for added dimension.

And then... I actually finished the inside of a card.  I think if you have the elegance of the gate fold for your card style, you need a "ta-da" finish for the inside.  I used a couple of the die cut leaves, not just because I had them on hand (which I did), but also because they are beautiful.

Next up, Scor-pal designer Steph Ackerman

Do you realize just how easy it is to create boxes using your Scor-pal?  Once the box size has been determined, it's a matter of scoring, folding and taping and a box comes to life in no time at all.
Follow along with me and see how quickly you can make this project come alive using some awesome card stock and pattern papers from DCWV.

Supplies:
Cardstock: DCWV, Autumn Melody
Pattern paper: DCWV, Autumn Melody Stack
Scoring tool: Scor-pal
Adhesive: Scor-tape, Glue dots
Ink: Clearsnap

Cut 2 pieces of card stock 8" x 8".  Score one piece at 2" and 6".  Turn the paper once and score at 2" and 6" again (this will be the bottom).  Score the second piece at 2" and 6 1/8".  Turn the paper once and score again at 2" and 6 1/8" (this will be the top).

Cut in on all 4 sides to the score lines to create the flaps.  Add score tape to the edges.

Fold the small flaps in to create the box.

Cut pattern paper to fit sides and top of box and ink all edges.  Using a punch, punch along the bottom edges of each side piece before adhering.  This gives a nice finishing edge to your box.  A smaller strip of pattern paper was cut and adhered to each side.

To create the small rosette, cut a strip of card stock 1" x 12".  Score every 1/4" across and then accordion fold the strip.  Lightly ink the folded strip with brown ink.  Using Scor-tape, adhere the ends together and gently force into a circular shape.  Adhere the rosette to a circle to help reinforce the shape.

To create the larger rosette, cut a strip of card stock 2" x 12".  Score every 1/2" across and then accordion fold the strip.  Lightly ink the folded strip with brown ink.  Using Scor-tape, adhere the ends together and gently force into a circular shape. Adhere the rosette to a circle to help reinforce the shape.

Place the smaller rosette on top of the larger rosette and add a die cut element on the top.  Adhere to the box top, applying adhesive to the bottom of the rosette only.  I then fussy cut some leaves and inserted them under the rosette.  To finish the inside of the box, I cut pattern paper to fit and then inked it with brown ink before adhering it in place.

Check back tomorrow for more!

Great set of projects today - loving the colours and dimension from your fancy folding!!! I confess that I am addicted to rosettes (working on 3 for a card at the moment) and gatefold cards too :)
Thank you for having so much variety for this week featuring DCWV and for sharing the details on how to make them too!!!

LOVE this STUNNING Zig-Zag card http://pinterest.com/pin/246009198366218290/ from your Scor-pal Project Board on Pinterest. I had already pinned it into my gallery and visited the amazing creator (Tara's Card Studio) and found the original project post amongst her other fabulous projects. It is worth a visit just to see how this card unfolds to become a stunning display. I dream of being able to make one of these for my Mum :)

I love the patterned paper peeking through the cut-out leaves. Lisa's projects are awesome because she's done beautiful work with patterned paper -- but they're not all pattern everywhere. They're kind of restful to look at.
