"More Than One Score" Challenge #16 - All About Weddings

Welcome to the 16th Monthly Challenge here at Scor-Pal!
We love showing our projects to you and now it's your chance to show your creations to us!
Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make "More Than One Score" and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won't count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will :) Also we love to see your "Anything But a Card" projects, just as long as you make "More Than One Score"
We have a very current theme this month, "Wedding and More Than One Score".
Please note that you MUST include the theme as well as "More Than One Score", some people are not following the theme and therefore are not eligible for a Top 3 spot or the Prize, thanks. We have a nice set of samples from the Design Team, just click on their names to go to their blogs for more details on their creations.
The challenge ends at 10pm on June 30th and the new one starts on July 1st. Winners and our favorites will be revealed on July 5th.
This months featured Design Team member is Lois Bak so please go and take a look at her blog for a more detailed post on her project.

I’m the hostess for this month’s Scor-Pal More Than One Score challenge.  As this is June (the month of weddings), I chose Weddings as my theme.  My project is a fun box which I learned how to make last year, and I will show you how to make one for yourself . . . or to give to the bride and groom.

Supplies you will need for this project are:

         Scor-Pal
         Paper trimmer
         Adhesive runner
         Scor-Tape
         Scissors
         2 pieces of cardstock 6” x 9”
         2 pieces of cardstock 6” x 6”
         1 piece of cardstock 10” x 10”
         4 pieces of patterned paper 5 ¾” x 5 ¾”
         2 pieces of patterned paper 3” x 6”
         1 piece of patterned paper 4” x 4”
         8 pieces of patterned paper 3” x 4”
         Ribbon
Stamps, embellishments, cardstock as desired to decorate lid

Place one of the 6” x 9” pieces of cardstock longways across the top of the Scor-Pal and score at 3”.  Repeat with second piece.

Adhere strips of Scor-Tape to the small section of one of these panels.

Glue the two small pieces together to form one long sheet of cardstock 6” x 15”.  Cut two pieces of ribbon approximately 12” long at attach at center of each 6” x 6” panel at the ends.

Adhere the 5 ¾” x 5 ¾” pieces of patterned paper to the 6” x 6” pieces of cardstock
 . . .

. . . and adhere to one side of the now 6” x 15” panel.

In the original tutorial that I had followed for my first box, the patterned paper (6” x 6”) was glued directly onto the long panel.  I have found that, by trimming it by 1/4” and gluing it to a second 6” x 6” panel, it makes for a more sturdy lid.

Adhere the 3” x 6” patterned paper to the center and then adhere the remaining pieces of patterned paper to the other side the same way.

Your cover is now completed.

For the box portion, score the 10” x 10” piece of cardstock at 3” on all four sides.

Using your scissors, cut into the corners to create tabs.

Add Scor-Tape to the tabs and fold to create the box.

Now adhere the 4” x 4” patterned paper to the bottom of the box and four of the 3” x 4” pieces to the inside walls.  You may have to trim these pieces slightly to fit.  Test the fit before gluing down the inside pieces.  Adhere the final four 3” x 4” pieces of patterned paper to the outside walls.

Apply Scor-Tape to the bottom of the box.

Adhere the box to the center of the bottom panel of your cover.

Your box is now completed.  Decorate the lid as desired.

This concludes my tutorial for the June edition of the Scor-Pal More Than One Score challenge.

Hello Crafty Friends!  Here I am in May with another Scor-Pal More Than One Score challenge.  This month's theme is Mother's Day.  We hope you create something for your mother or a special mother that you know.  Last month, I made a pop-up card and this month I have a different variation.  Today's card features a pop-up on the inside.  I promise that it is fun and easy.  Let's get started!
For this project, you will need:

  • Scor-Pal
  • Scor-Tape
  • Scor-Mat
  • 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of card stock for card base
  • 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of card stock for insert
  • Additional card stock for layers on card front
  • Craft knife
  • Ruler
  • Paper snips
  • Stamps and ink
  • Markers for coloring
  • Rhinestone embellishments

  • Place the 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" card stock for insert into the Scor-Pal with the 8 1/2" side of the card stock against the top fence.  Score at 4 1/4" and burnish the fold.  Your folded insert will now measure 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" when folded.
Place your Scor-Mat into the Scor-Pal and place your card insert with the folded side against the fence.  Cut slits 5/8" down at 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/2", 3", 3 1/2" and 4".
Open the card insert, like a book, and lay flat.  Score at 3 5/8" and 4 7/8" at the each side of the slits, as shown.
Push the slits inside the card insert and burnish folds again.
Open card insert.  The slits are now pop-up tabs.  Apply Scor-Tape to the front side of the pop-up tabs.  The pop-ups are now ready for mounting.
Remove adhesive backing from the Scor-Tape and adhere letters.  In order to obscure the negative space created by the pop-up tabs, adhere the insert to a separate card base.  To create a border, close insert and trim 1/16" from the sides and bottom of the insert.  Do not trim the fold.
Decorate your card front as desired.
This concludes my tutorial for the May 2015 More Than One Score Mother's Day challenge.

    Happy Scoring!

Hello Crafty Friends!  I'm back with April's More Than One Score challenge and a tutorial.  April's challenge has a theme of spring and/or flowers.  We have had an early spring this year and it has been abnormally warm and dry.  Many of our flowers and trees are blooming early and inspired my card today.  Today's card is a fun pop-up card*!
For this project, you will need:

    • Scor-Pal
    • Scor-Tape
    • Scor-Mat
    • 4 1/4" x 11" piece of paper for card base
    • 2 3/4" x 5 1/4" piece of acetate for pop-up tag
    • Craft knife
    • Ruler
    • Flower and word dies, leaf punch
    • Additional card stock for flower and sentiment
    • Liquid and dimensional adhesives
    • Embellishments as desired (ribbon and button)
    • Stamps and ink
    Place the 4 1/4" x 11" piece of designer paper in the Scor-Pal with the 11" side of the paper against the top fence.  Score the paper at 1", 2 3/4", 3 3/4", 5 1/2", 7 1/4", 8 1/4" and 10".

Flip the designer paper over and find the scored line at 5 1/2".  With a ruler and a pencil, mark 5/8" from the top and bottom.
Insert your Scor-Mat into your Scor-Pal.  With your craft knife, trim away an opening between the two marks on the 5 1/2" score line.
Burnish, or crease, all of the scored lines you made in the first step.  You will see the base of the pop-up card starting to take shape.
Line the first and last 1" segments of the designer paper with Scor-Tape, as shown.
Create your pop-up tag on the 2 3/4" x 5 1/4" piece of acetate.  Card stock would also work for creating the pop-up tag.  Insert the tag through cut out opening from the top of the card base.
Remove the adhesive backing from the Scor-Tape from one of the 1" segments and secure your tag, making certain that your tag is centered in the opening and lined up with the bottom of the card base.  Remove the adhesive backing from the other 1" segment and secure it to the tag and the first 1" segment, creating the bottom of the pop-up card base.
The pop-up card will now sit upright and you can embellish the card base as desired.
Also, the pop-up card base folds down flat and will fit nicely into an envelope.
This concludes my Pop-Up card tutorial made especially for the April edition of the Scor-Pal More Than Once Score challenge.

    Happy Scoring!
