Now for today's project by Scor-pal designer Katie Tate.
The exploding box is made from a 12" by 12" sheet of patterned cardstock. Score at 4" and 8" on each side and then a diagonal score at the corners to where the previous score lines intersect.
Burnish all score lines and fold the box with the corners folding into themselves.
The lid is made from a square of coordinating patterned cardstock measuring 7 1/8"
Score at 1 1/2" and 5 5/8" on all sides. Snip the corners to form flaps to create the box lid.
The lid will fit snugly to hold the exploding box closed.
Decorate the sides of the lid with the lace and ribbon/
I made a ribbon flower/rosette for the lids from 8 strips of ribbon each measuring 6" long. Form loops from the strips of ribbon.
Glue the loops to form the flower and decorate the center, I chose to add 2 paper flowers and a fabric brad style accent.
Decorate the rest of the box as desired.
For the Gatefold card I used 3 pieces of cardstock. One measures 12" by 6" and 2 measure 6" square. Score the square pieces at 3" on one side and burnish. Score the other piece at 3" and 9" along the 12" side.
Attach the smaller pieces on each side with the scored edges aligning with the ends of the larger piece and the 3" sections overlapping.
Add an 8" strip of ribbon on the front flap and back flap to make a tie to hold the card together. Cover with patterned cardstock.
Decorate as desired.
Create the tri-panel card from a piece of cardstock measuring 6" by 12". Cut the 12" side with and exacto knife in a gradient. Score the 12" length at 4" and 8"
Punch along the graduated side with a border punch and burnish the score lines.
Decorate each panel of the card as desired.
The back of the panels are left plain, perfect for adding photos to to make a special gift.
The completed projects would make a perfect gift to a new mom or grandma.
