This week the Scor-pal Designers are excited to be sharing some last minute gift ideas using product from our friends at Jillibean Soup.
You'll want to stop by each day this week for new ideas and to leave a comment. Next Monday we will choose one random comment from the week to win a Scor-buddy. Which is perfect for creating last minute gifts or even a gift for the special crafter in your life.
Also, be sure and stop by the Scor-pal Fan Page and leave a comment as well because we will be giving away a Scor-Tape prize pack over there to someone who left a comment both there *and* on the blog. Because, after all, when you are making special gifts you want them to stay together and you want the best ;)
Today we have not one, but two projects from the Scor-pal Designers.
First up we have a great gift card holder by Scor-pal Designer Lisa Andrews.
I made this cute little gift holder for my project. I started with Tilda in a Stocking and colored her with Distress Inks. Of course, the designer paper is from Jillibean Soup. The die behind Tilda is a gorgeous snowflake from Memory Box, I absolutely LOVE these dies! I used flowers from Wild Orchid Craft to cover up part of the box. The big stocking die is from Stampin Up!
I also used the scallop punch from Stampin Up! behind my sentiment.
Here is a side view
For the box I used a piece of red card stock 7" x 4 1/4", score 1" on both sides of the 7", then turn your paper and score at 3" and 4". On the long side of the paper score at 1/2" about 2" down, repeat on all sides.
See below:
See below:
Next, cut the flaps at 3" and 4" up to the 1" score mark.
Adhere with Scor-Tape as shown below:
Pinch your box at the top to create folds as shown.
Attach your decorated stockings to each side of the gift box.
Next up, we have two great projects from Scro-pal Designer Virginia Nebel
December greetings! I hope you are enjoying all the festive inspiration for gift ideas here and with our friends at Jillbean Soup. I loved playing with Jillbean Soup’s Christmas Eve Chowder collection to create some very fun holiday gifts projects.
My first project is a little window treat box of Keurig K-cups. The box holds 9 K-cups (or other sweet treats) snugly and will definitely be the perfect holiday gift to warm up on those chilly Winter nights.
Here are the steps to create the window box:
1) Start with a 9 1/4 x 9 1/4 inch square and place onto your Scor-pal. Score at 1 3/4 and 7 1/2 inches. Rotate 90 degrees and repeat.
2) Fold along score lines. Choose two opposite sides and cut from the outside edge to the corner point where the score lines meet. Use scor-tape adhesive on the flaps and fold in to form the box.
3) To make the lid with a window in the middle. Repeat Step 1 and 2 but do not adhere the corner flaps until you create the window. To make the window, take a 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 square cardstock and centre on the lid and trace with a pencil. Use scissors to cut out the square window. Do not worry that your cutting has to be perfect because you can use a border strip to cover the outside window edges.
4) Cut a 4 x 4 piece of acetate and put thin scor-tap along the edges and adhere acetate over the open square. Fold in the corner flaps to create the lid.
5) You have just created a window box to fit 9 K-cups snugly and now you can have fun embellishing!
My second holiday project is a bright and cheerful Christmas Peek-a-boo display. This would be a terrific gift for family or friends to include their own photos and memories for their Christmas countdown. The extra fun inter-active elements are the peek-a-boo windows that invite you to flip open to reveal more photos. The mosaic pattern squares can be substituted to fit family photos. The Scor-pal tool is used to score the a mosaic pattern onto your cardstock and you can make as many peek-a-boo windows wherever you like.
Try these steps to make your own mosaic masterpiece:
Place a 12 x 12 paper on your scoring tool. Score every 2 inches, rotate the paper 90 degrees and repeat. Determine how many and where you wish to create the windows.
With an exacto knife, use the scor-lines/ruler as a guide to trim out the 3 sides of your window (always leaving one edge scored as the spine). I kept the other scor-lines on the page because I wanted to create a mosaic effect. A mosaic pattern is a fabulous way to use up the little paper scraps/embellies from your favourite Christmas papers. You can also substitute the pattern squares for little photos or journaling. The pattern squares measure 1 ¾ x 1 ¾ inches.
I hope you enjoyed 'peeking' into my Christmas gift ideas, have fun making yours!
Merry Christmas! Virginia
