Pinspired! with Toni

Hey there, crafty friends!  It's been some time since I have posted a "pinspired" project for you!  I'm hoping that you will enjoy this one.  I found it here via Pinterest , of course!  While it doesn't fit with this month's More Than One Score theme, it's a card that is sure to impress. Here is my Pull-Up Lantern card.
For this project, you will need:
  • Scor-Pal
  • Scor-Tape
  • Four pieces of 2" x 12" card stock
  • Twenty pieces of 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" card stock
  • Four pieces of 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" card stock
  • Sixteen pieces of 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" patterned paper
  • One piece of 6" x 6" patterned paper
  • One piece of 6 1/4" x 6 1/4" card stock
  • Two pieces of 7/8" x 3 1/4" card stock
  • 12" length of ribbon
  • Stamp
  • Ink
  • Sponge dauber
  • Hole punch
  • Circle punches
  • Additional card stock for circles
Place a 2" by 12" strip with its long side against the top fence of the Scor-Pal.  Score at 2", 6" and 10".
Flip strip over and score at 4" and 8". Repeat with remaining 3 2"x 12" card stock strips.
If you chose to stamp sentiments on your card, then complete this now. There are four stamped 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" squares on this project.  The edges of these squares was lightly sponged with the same ink that was used for the sentiment.
Use Scor-Tape to assemble the four scored card stock strips.  The 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" stamped sentiment squares and patterned paper squares are matted on top of the 1 3/4' x 1 3/4" card stock squares.  Those 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" squares are adhered to the top five scored sections of the card stock strips.
Turn over card stock strips and line the sixth scored section with Scor-Tape.
Removed adhesive backing on Scor-Tape and attach one card stock strip in center of each side of the 6" x 6" piece of patterned paper.
Use Scor-Tape to attach the two 7/8" x 3 1/4" in a "plus sign" formation.  Use a hole punch to create a small hole in the center of the two pieces.
Punch three circles from card stock.  Punches measuring 1" and 3/4" were used here.  Mat the 3/4" circle on top of the 1" circle with Scor-Tape and punch a hole through the center.
Adhere Scor-Tape to the ends of the 7/8" x 3 1/4" strips which have been arranged in a "plus sign" formation.
Place the crossed strips under the top scored sections of the card stock strips.  Arrange it so that the "plus" is centered.  Carefully remove adhesive backing and attach to each strip one at a time. Take care to keep the "plus" centered.
Flip over the 6"x 6" patterned paper and line the edges with Scor-Tape.
Remove adhesive backing and attach to the 6 1/4" x 6 1/4" piece of card stock.
Fold 12" length of ribbon in half and push through the bottom opening of the hole punched in the center of the cross between the card stock strips. Adhere ribbon underneath with a Scor-Tape and one punched circle.
Adhere Scor-Tape to the back of the second punched circle.  Removed adhesive backing and thread ribbon through the bottom of the circle.
Be certain to adhere the matted circles neatly in the center of the "plus sign". The ribbon then is your means to pull up the lantern card and expose the strips.
This fun card has a bit of the spring to it due to the scored strips and can be helped to expand with the attached ribbon on top.

Thanks for visiting today!

Mid Month Tutorial by Lois

The Scor-Pal "More than One Score" challenge for July was "3 of a Kind" -- make a matching set.  Earlier this month I posted my 3" x 3" Note Tote and Matching card.  Today I am showing you how I made this set, using some Kindred Stamps characters based on one of my favorite movie franchises.

To make the tote, I cut a piece of red cardstock 3 1/4" x 7 1/2" and scored at 3 1/4" from each end.  I then trimmed the four corners with a corner rounder punch.

Then I cut a strip of red cardstock 1 1/4" x 8" and trimmed it with a scallop border punch.

I then cut another piece of red cardstock 2 1/4" x 8 1/2", scoring at 1 5/8", 2 5/8", 5 7/8", and 6 7/8".  This will be used to create the sides of my tote.

I adhered Scor-Tape along the top and bottom of the two end sections center section.

To construct the tote, I removed the protective paper from the Scor-Tape, lining up the long center section of the insert with one side of the outside panel, being careful to line up the corners and the bottom, and gently pressed it together.  I then folded up the other side of the outside panel, lining up the corners on each side of the insert, and pressed them together, forming the tote.

I cut a piece of white cardstock 2 1/8" x 9" and applied adhesive to one end and wrapped it around the tote, overlapping at the end.  I burnished the corners to create a crisp fold line and then cut a piece of star-patterned paper 2" x 9", repeating the wrapping process.

Using a piercing tool, I created a hole centered and approximately 1/2" down from the top of each 1" side panel.  I adhered the scalloped handle on the inside of each 1" side panel, piercing through the hole to go all the way through and then inserting a white brad on each side.

I then stamped, colored and cut out the characters and adhered two of them to the front of the tote with foam pop dots.  The rest of the characters will be for the 3" x 3" note cards and the larger A2 card.

The note cards were made from 3" x 6" pieces of red cardstsock, scored at 3".  I decorated the fronts with a panel of white cardstock and a slightly smaller panel of star-patterned paper -- adding a character to the front of each.

The larger card was made with a piece of red cardstock 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" and folded in half.  Again I layered a piece of white cardstock and star-patterned paper, similar to the note cards.  I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of white cardstock and cut out with a key tag label punch.  I added two die-cuts made from a Sizzix die set called Scribbles and Splat as background -- and then adhered the three remaining characters with foam pop dots.

Scor-Pal More than One Score Challenge #50 3 of a Kind (Create a matching set)

Welcome to the 50th Monthly Challenge here at Scor-Pal!
We love showing our projects to you and now it's your chance to show your creations to us!
This month we want to see you create "3 of a Kind" and make a matching/coordinating set
Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make "More Than One Score" and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won't count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will :) Also we love to see your "Anything But a Card" projects, just as long as you make "More Than One Score"

We have a ton of inspiration on our Projects on the Scor-Pal website and also on our Pinterest Board to get you eager to enter.

We have a nice set of samples from the Design Team, just click on their names to go to their blogs for more details on their creations.
